I am a composer, songwriter, producer and session musician. As a solo artist I have released two studio albums and two EPs. I have composed the music to 5 short films, a video game and co-written a musical that ran in Smock Alley (Dublin) in May 2022. I have also produced, mixed and mastered tracks for multiple other artists.

For the last several years, my primary focus has been my work as a session musician. I have toured the world and recorded extensively with a few wonderful artists (Villagers, Æ Mak, Saint Sister, Jake Clemons…) and all of my achievements as an artist and composer have been accomplished in between my session work.

I am now moving away from this world to focus full-time on my own career as an artist, composer and producer. I am looking for a manager who believes in my work and my vision and as my partner, can help me in all of the areas I am pursuing.

What I’ve done so far…

In 2019, I released my first album as a solo artist. ‘Thresholds’ was a collaborative instrumental album focused on piano, string arrangements and synth textures:

The piano is a central part of all of my creativity. I pursued classical performance seriously from a young age, winning competitions and performing at a national level and received a bachelors in contemporary classical composition and performance in 2014. My deep study of classical piano, mixed with my love of improvisation and contemporary styles has given me a unique playing style which has been my hallmark as a musician.

In 2020, I started a project called ‘Soft Set Sundays’. Every Sunday for 38 weeks straight, I released a video performance of myself improvising at the piano. I posted this series on YouTube, Instagram and Facebook. I then took the first 10 of these improvisations, gave them a full mix and master and released them as an album that I called ‘Soft Set Sundays, Vol. 1’:

Before I started releasing albums as an artist, I started my work as a film score composer. In 2018, I scored my first two short films and then released the soundtracks as EPs. ‘Backwater’ and ‘Breast Friends’:

I went on to score 3 more short films and collaborated on a video game soundtrack. Here are a selection of tracks from those projects:

I have written some music for production music libraries over the last few years, a practice that I am still pursuing. This feels quite separate from my soundtrack or artistic work as it is often writing to a very specific brief or with a very specific sound or feeling in mind. One big positive with this practice though is that it has pushed me to try working in genres that I never otherwise would have.

Linked below is a showreel I made giving brief examples of lots of my work with visual media.

In 2018, I was invited to collaborate on the composition of a musical. This was NOT a world I had anticipated diving into but the project sucked me in and 4 years of work later and after two extended trips to America for workshop performances, we launched ‘Parcel From America’ in Smock Alley in May. As well as scoring the music, I was musical director for this production (the most intense 6 weeks of my life) and it was received better than any of us imagined, with multiple sold out shows. Click the button bellow to visit the website for the musical.

Over the last few years, I have been working as a producer for other artists. For many of these projects, I also mixed and mastered the tracks. Here is a selection of some of that work (some of which is unreleased or unfinished). I have included a description of my roles in the title of each track.

What I have planned…

Starting with my artist releases, the first of my plans is to mix and master the rest of the ‘Soft Set Sunday’ sessions (11 through 38) and release them as three more albums; Vol. 2, Vol. 3 and Vol. 4. The link below will take you to the full collection of Soft Set Sunday videos.

For the last several years, alongside the Soft Set improvisations, I have been slowly building a catalogue of fully composed piano pieces. I have compiled a collection of my favourites into an album linked below. These are still in demo form and my intention is to record them all on a real piano for a more serious solo piano album release.

One final project that I have been sitting on for several years is a collection of songs. I always saw this project as being an extremely central part of my creative output in the future. My hope was that these songs would be a meeting of all of my biggest influences. These influences range from Sufjan Stevens and Bon Iver to Ólafur Arnalds and Nils Frahm to James Blake, Jon Hopkins and Floating Points. These are self-produced demos which need lots of work but the essence of my sound is there.

In anticipation of my future artist releases, I undertook an intense digital marketing course. Through the processes I learned within that course, I fleshed out some very comprehensive marketing and release plans for some of my future projects. I know my way around Facebook Ads Manager and am confident I could get quite a lot out of even a modest ad budget for any given campaign. I know how to create video content to a modest degree (the ‘Soft Set Sunday’ videos were totally self produced). I have a substantial amount of content already created which can be creatively and effectively used in many ways and I have lots of different ideas for monetisation of my creativity. I know how to build marketing funnels, track movement through my campaigns and have lots of product ideas for my future releases.

I am now seeking someone to collaborate with on the business aspect of my career and help me further my goals as an artist and composer. On top of all of these releases I have planned as an artist, I hope to continue further down the path of composition for visual media, whether that is more film work, TV, documentaries, games or theatre. I want to continue working as a producer for other artists and establish myself further in that field and I hope to find a suitable house to represent the publishing of my artist releases and pitch my music for sync placements as I believe much of my output is highly suited to visual media.

Overall, I am looking for someone I trust, who understands and believes in my vision as an artist in all of these areas and can help me plan and execute strategies to achieve those goals.

Thanks for reading and listening.
